The View Pavilion Hotel, Laos (2011)

A cat in Luang Prabang, Laos

Cats in Laos does not stop to pose for a picture.

Entrance to my room at the The View Pavilion Hotel in Luang Prabang, Laos.

Bathroom in my room.

Here is the overall view of my room from the large window between the bathroom and the sleeping area.

Now looking from the other direction. There is a tub only about 4 feet from the bed.

Now looking out to my balcony which looks out over the Mekong River...... except....

... except these roof tops and trees get in the way. Here you can barely see some river. Look for the brown between the tree tops.

Here is a better view to some some of the Mekong.

Went for a walk and just down the road and on the other side of the street is this temple.

There is major sidewalk work being done which, at times, is a bit of a nuisance but no big deal. This is "low season" which means less tourists and so that is probably why the work is being done now.

Chopping coconut.

I love these little trucks I see around asia. I think they are 3 cyclinder and get super milage. This or something like this would be a great optin in the US. Kind of like a smart car truck?

Some travelers like renting a bike to pedal around.

More bicycles for rent.

.... and some more....

Who is that on the motorbike tuk tuk windshield?  .... Che Gueverra  Laos is a Communist country.

Beerlao. The beer of Laos.

Thought this was interesting, some guy step to the doorway, I snap a pic or two and then I realize it is the Police Office.

I see alot kids being driven around on motorcycles. Soon after this photo I even witnessed an adult carrying 3 kids. Missed getting that pic.

I bought a large water from this shop and asked the lady there if I could take her photo. She had a very kind nature about her. She could speak no English and of course I can speak no Lao, but still got some water and I think a nice photo.

This photo is not sharp...... but still a nice moment.

This is the same woman and child from the previous photo. I asked if I could take her child's photo. She let me. Again words served no help in the communication, just me pointing. Afterword, I showed her this photo on the back of my camera (LCD screen) and she sorta shrugged ever so slightly and seemed disinterested.

Poster about an exhibit, I will see if I can track it down and go see it. Thought some printmakers would find this interesting.

Took a photo of a tourist photographing themselves. The couple being photographed gave me a strange look right after I snapped this.

This ended up being my late lunch. Coming back to where I am staying, I stopped at the restaurant downstairs, looked at the menu, and asked about a dish on the menu and stated that I may get that later for dinner. Well back in my room, I hear a knock and there was the young waiter with the dish. He thought I ordered and wanted it delivered to my room.

Some Cambodia Photos 2011

This is a new friend. His name is Robert and he is with the UNESCO World Heritage Centre. I like this idea of getting a photo of him with his map and posed between 2 of his ladies. He has been working at this site for about 3 year.... He got me access to some spots that I would otherwise I would never gain.

Robert heading to the scaffolding (the scaffolding in the back center area). I followed.

Here are the stairs we went up. I had to wear a hard hat. Good thing since I bumped my head a good half dozen times.

Some workers on the restoration project.

Remember I mention access for some photos that I would not get otherwise?  Here is a high point wide view to give some idea of the scale of this temple area.

Some big heads of the Bayon Temple.
